Special Offerings Work!

Special Offerings Work!

Mark Brooks
The Stewardship Coach, Volume 3

Do special offerings work?  My answer is as always, it depends!  I believe they can work but you need to set them up to work.  Most of the time we improperly set the stage for an effective offering.  You know that one of my mantra’s is that we must work at making the offering a meaningful and worshipful moment.  I believe that any day can be a special offering day but there are some days that are more special than others.

Know Where You Are Headed!

Know Where You Are Headed!

Mark Brooks
The Stewardship Coach, Volume 3

Do you know where you are headed?  Women say that we men never ask for directions.  We just keep driving hoping that some landmark will remind us of where we are and thus where we actually are heading.  While that strategy, though dubious, might not imperil your life it won’t get you where you want to be as fast as you want to be there.  The same is true when it comes to being fully funded.  Too many churches have no clue where they are.  Do you?

Are you Behind or Ahead?

Are you Behind or Ahead?

Mark Brooks
Blog, The Stewardship Coach

Here is the key giving question to ask yourself just a few days into the New Year, are you behind or ahead?  If you are ahead, good for you!  What are you going to do to stay ahead?  If you are behind, what are you going to do to catch up? Most churches do nothing!  Doing nothing will only result in, NOTHING!  Money does not simply fall from Heaven into your offering plates.  You need a plan of action towards closing out any giving gap.  Falling behind early makes it harder to be fully funded for this summer.  Now is […]

It’s the Economy, Stupid!

It’s the Economy, Stupid!

Mark Brooks
The Stewardship Coach, Volume 3

It’s the economy, stupid! That phrase was reportedly posted on the front of then presidential candidate Bill Clinton’s bus to remind him to focus on what voters were truly interested in. He promised better days and was elected; unseating a sitting president, no small feat. As we are in the beginning weeks of 2016 I want to say kindly that when it comes to raising funds, it’s the economy that is on everyone’s mind. Is it on yours?

Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket!

Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket!

Mark Brooks
The Stewardship Coach, Volume 3

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!  Remember that old saying?  When it comes to your being fully funded this year I want you to embrace that saying.  If you only give your people one way to give you will find your giving declining.  Americans love options and that includes how they give to their church.  How many ways can people at your church give?

Does Your Giving Coach Answer Your Emails?

Does Your Giving Coach Answer Your Emails?

Mark Brooks
Blog

As you attempt to meet your budget needs this year my question for you is, does your giving coach answer your emails?  Recently I got online to listen to one of the leading giving coaches in America in terms of volume of churches served, explain how his listeners could increase their revenue.  One key quote he made was, “Answering emails is an absolute waste of an entrepreneur’s time.” I was shocked!  I know why he said this.  He has well over 1,000 churches that pay him around a $100 a month to provide advice, giving talks and other materials.  Do […]

Do You Have a Winter Weather Offering Plan?

Do You Have a Winter Weather Offering Plan?

Mark Brooks
Blog

Do you have a winter weather offering plan?  It is not IF it will snow but WHEN!  When it snows you will either cancel services or at the very least see attendance greatly impacted.  When attendance is down so is your offering.  Few make up a lost offering the next week. Even those of you in Florida have to be ready for weather related attendance bumps during hurricane season.  So it pays for every church to have a plan to make up any lost offerings.  Here are some, Key Steps for Bad Weather Week Ends – Follow these steps to ensure […]
